Customs Clearance
Promoting Company Choice

Personalised procedures

The agreeement which will bind the company and Customs is a contract laying down the rights and obligations of both parties : clearance methods, conditions under which the company will complete its administrative formalities, and conditions of action by the Customs authorities.
The company can choose between a wide range of procedures :

  • Conventional Clearance procedures, each product being cleared individually ;

  • Simplified procedures, with simple notification of each transaction to Customs and a monthly summary declaration ;

  • Accelerated procedures for certain goods, allowing a steady flow of trade ;

  • Specific procedures geared to the company's particular line of business.

The agreement offers a company reliability, speed and security.

Company Statistics

For many years, French Customs has been developing a support service for companies involved in international trade.

  • It compiles overall statistics for French foreign trade and makes them available to foreign companies.

  • All companies can consult the BEATRICE data bank and obtain these statistics in the form of publications or microfiches, computer media, graphs or charts, or access the information through data communications.

  • French Customs also provides some specific surveys on given industry, product or group of products, by country or group of countries, based on various parameters and criteria.

Such information is very useful for market studies.

Aiming to listen and advice

At both National and regional level, French Customs has developed consultancy services which are available free of charge to companies and which are designed to :

  • provide any information required on Customs formalities ;

  • study, in connection with a Customs audit, the company's requirements in terms of Customs methods and procedures in order to find the most appropriate solutions ;

  • prepare a general draft of a clearance agreement for the company, which the latter is free to accept or refuse.

Aiming to inform

In order to inform international companies of the law in force on Customs matters, French Customs publishes an official Customs Bulletin, together with practical leaflets and guides.

Six Customs Information Centresin Paris and the main regional cities are in charge of solving urgent problems by phone, fax or on the spot.
