The Office of the Defense Cooperation Attaché deals with all aspects of cooperative defense acquisition policy. This includes cooperation on science and technology, fostering cooperative programs, purchasing U.S. equipments for French Armed Forces, and supporting defense industrial cooperation between French and U.S. companies.

The Defense Cooperation Attaché is the representative in the United States of the Délégué Générale pour l'Armement (Head of the French Defense Procurement Agency). He heads a team of Assistant Defense Cooperation Attachés specialized in the various fields of cooperation between France and the United States.
