French Saint-Cyr Cadets to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War on Memorial Day in Washington D.C.

Washington, May 3, 2002

As part of their visit to the United States to celebrate their common bicentennial with the U.S. Military Academy of West Point, two hundred cadets from the French Military Academy of Saint-Cyr will participate in the Memorial Day Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Korean War Memorial, scheduled on Monday, May 27, 2002 at 3:00 p.m., and organized by the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemoration Committee. Their attendance will honor all those who served their country during the Korean War. French Forces were under the United Nations Command during that conflict.

After the solemn ceremony at the Korean War Memorial, they will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at 4:30 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery, to pay tribute to all those who fought for freedom and for France.
