I wish to pay tribute to Tom Lantos who just died. A prominent member of US Congress and chairman of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, Tom Lantos was a passionate defender of human rights. As a survivor of the Holocaust, he knew the price of freedom.

I met him in Washington just a few months ago and I have fond memories of our meeting.

I hail the memory of this great American political figure and offer's condolences to his family and to members of the Congress of the United States of America./.
