Paris, November 28, 2011
In response to the urgent international appeal made in October by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs’ crisis centre has released a new sum of €250,000. This sum will be specifically allocated to Gaza, where UNRWA provides assistance to some 1.1 million refugees – two-thirds of the total population of this blockaded territory.
This exceptional contribution adds to the €7.1 million France paid to UNRWA in 2011, of which €4.5 million was her contribution to the agency’s general fund and €1.5 million to food aid.
It is part of the effort made by France in Gaza, which is one of the priorities of our action in the Palestinian territories./.
